Description
DAYS TO GERMINATION: 7-14 days at 70°F (21°C).
SOWING: Make 2-3 successive sowings 2-3 weeks apart for continuous blooms from summer to heavy frost.
Direct seed (recommended): After last frost, when the soil is warm, sow 6 seeds per foot, 1/4″ deep. Thin.
Transplant – Sow 4 weeks before last frost, 2 or more seeds per cell or container. Thin and transplant outside after the last hard frost.
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun/Part Shade.
SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Rich, well-drained soil.
PLANT SPACING: 6-12″.
HARDINESS ZONES: Annual.
HARVEST: Fresh: Harvest when flowers are 1/2 open.
Edible: Harvest once the flowers are fully open and pull petals off before using in dishes. Do not eat the calyx or flower centers.
Medicinal (‘Alpha’ and ‘Resina’): Flowers are used in antiseptic tinctures and healing skin ointments.
USES: Cut flower. Edible flower. Beds, borders, containers, mass plantings, and cottage gardens.
